Kitchen Staff

  • Description: The backbone of the restaurant business. As the starting place for most Rusty’s employees, you’ll be washing dishes before progressing to food prep and beyond. Efficient washing, close attention to detail, and readiness to switch tasks play key roles for our Back of House positions. Our ideal dishwasher follows strict sanitation protocol in cleaning and restocking dishes. Our ideal prep person identifies upcoming food needs, refilling and rotating inventory with minimal supervision.
  • Job tier: Dish, Prep, Line
  • Other key teams/positions: Grill, Line, Pit, Expo
  • Key responsibilities (4-6 major results this person must produce):
    • Clean, sanitize, replace dirty dishes efficiently
    • Take kitchen trash to dumpster when needed
    • Prepare a variety of foods for kitchen use
    • Follow proper food usage guidelines set forth by regulations
    • Maintain a sanitary food prep environment to minimize contamination
    • Communicate food concerns (shortage, spoilage)  to management 
  • Abilities:
    • Practical skills and knowledge required:
      • Prepare a variety of foods at consistent quality and speed
      • Prioritize duties logically (which orders to fill first, cleaning duties, etc.)
      • Able to stand for long periods (4+ hours)
      • Can lift up to 50 lbs at a time
      • Follows chemical protocols when cleaning dishes
      • Assists in other weekly duties (e.g., deep cleans, shipment intake)
